The Product Owner will gather and document product change requests (in the form of stories ) from key stakeholders and clients.
You will provide direction to Agile Scrum development teams to deliver the changes to meet our clients’ needs. The Product Owner will develop expertise in the product and the utilities industry, and will be the expert who the engineers consult to find out the correct way of operating the system.
You will be a self-motivated person eager to learn more about the product through remote conferencing with English-speaking staff working in our New Zealand office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Build expertise in Hansen products and the global utilities industry, through e-learning coursework and communicating daily online with our product experts in New Zealand
As your experience grows, support the local development team in Vietnam to understand how the product should function (training, advice, investigation)
Maintain a backlog of Agile stories that will be assigned to the Vietnam development team, understand their priorities, update job statuses in the Jira system, and provide progress reports
Work with Agile delivery teams to prioritise backlog items, contribute to user story writing, ensure the team understands the backlog, and contribute to team meetings (planning, reviews, etc)
Review and test software modifications to ensure they meet the original client requirements
Assist with estimating work effort for new projects and software modifications
Identify potential project risks to assist the project manager and other stake-holders
Skills and Qualifications
Fluent written and verbal English, with proven ability to write professional English documentation
Minimum 2 years of commercial experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or Trainer (or appropriate tertiary certifications)
Professional communication skills, including familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g. Skype, MS Offfice)
Ability to work flexible hours, particularly earlier in the day (cross-over with New Zealand / Australia time-zones)
Familiarity with the Agile software development methodology
Strong analytical skills; ability to understand complex processes with rigorous attention to detail
Experience with CRM, CIS or Billing systems
Experience in the utilities industry
Experience in pre-sales activities (software demo, RFP response, sales collateral) in the IT industry
Ability to travel internationally for onsite meetings with clients or other Hansen staff
