This position is based in our Vietnam office in Ho Chi Minh, in District 7.

Responsibilities

Coordination and Supervision - Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of the staff in

the region. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Monitor and

evaluate performance.

Financial & Cost Management - Develop and submit monthly key performance indicators related to audit travel cost, labor cost, utilization rate, profitability, etc.

Utilize this data to improve overall performance and profitability of the region. Assist in developing local pricing schemes for local business consistent with global schemes.

Prepare and control operational budgets.

Human Resources - Work with the regional human resources management to hire, on-board and develop field staff and administrative staff.

Conduct performance reviews, salary adjustments, and personnel development in accordance with UL requirements. Be responsible for executing any disciplinary action as needed.

Implement UL Performance Management requirements for staff under him / her.

Regional Performance - Coordinate and monitor the work of the operations staff. Monitor performance and implement improvements.

Ensure quality of deliverables. Provide technical support where necessary.

Training - Ensure staff receives necessary training and assistance to complete their responsibilities. Work with training supervisors to implement internal training and monitor the progress of audit staff.

Work with the global training manager to provide support and guidance to the regional training supervisors. In some regions, where training supervisors are not in place, the operations manager will fulfill the training responsibilities for the audit staff.

Communication - Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as IT, HR, Accounts and Finance. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions.

Conduct monthly operations meeting with the staff. Attend other meetings (on-line calls, etc) as required.

Quality Systems Management - Implement and communicate all quality system measures and programs as established by the quality system manager.

Communicate regularly with the Quality Systems Manager and other regional / global support teams to discuss improvement measure for the region.

Benchmark effective operational practices and share effective practices with other Responsible Sourcing locations.

Client Relationship - Responsible for assisting client facing teams in providing actionable information for generating client leads, market research, and new business development as required.

Stay current and up to date in terms of market developments or trends that would affect the regional business and overall global business.

Attend industry events to increase visibility of company services as required. Attend regional client meetings and / or accompany clients to local engagements (factory visits, audits, etc.).

Strategic Input - Liaison with top management and assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity.

Implement and manage operational plans.

Qualifications

  • A successful Field Operations Manager should ideally possess a University degree in Business Administration, International Relations, or related field;
  • with a minimum of 5 years’ work experience. He / She should have honed business and general management skills, be able to make decisions quickly and communicate effectively within a large and diverse organization is essential as well have people skills, creativity and rational analysis skills.

    He / She should be competent in written and verbal English, be able to adapt to challenging work environment in a constantly changing industry as well as operate in a multicultural environment and to handle sensitive and confidential information.

    Selected candidate must be able to travel extensively, when necessary.
