Overview of Position
We are looking for passionate and dedicated educators who love working with a diverse range of students (Elementary, Middle, and High School) to join our diverse team of mentors.
As a Debate Coach, you will be responsible for cultivating the students’ interest in public speaking, debate, and communication.
Your general responsibilities will include but are not limited to, developing curriculum, teaching various classes, grading assignments, evaluating students’ progress, and planning educational activities.
Responsibilities and Duties
Program Development
Assist in the research and development of curriculum that meets the standards of Point Avenue Debate Programs and are reflective of changes and developments in international debate education
Create lesson plans and resources (e.g. slides, worksheets, quizzes) and modify accordingly throughout the year
Design an engaging and safe learning environment through mentorship and student accountability (e.g. attendance, behavior management, character development)
Class Management
Deliver lessons based on course objectives and individual class needs
Assign and grade homework, assigned projects, and quizzes
Document students’ progress and provide feedback (e.g. progress reports)
Maintain communication with guardians with support from course consultants
Program Growth
Conduct diagnostics for prospective students and introduce the Debate Programs Roadmap
Pursue opportunities of professional development outside of Center Operations (e.g. adjudicating at local / international tournaments, coaching WSDC national teams)
Support Marketing campaigns and initiatives (e.g. Experience Day, Demo Day)
