The Role

We are recruiting for two Category Manager positions; one role will align with our Property Services Team and the other role will align with our IT team in Vietnam.

Both of these roles will provide leadership, direction and support to deliver value add’ to the University for the categories under their management.

Key activities include consulting with key stakeholders to determine requirements, assessment of supply markets, develop strategic category plans, manage supplier contracts, performance, and associated risks.

The Category Manager will engage with senior stakeholders across RMIT and the supplier community to understand long-term university aspirations that can be enabled by third party relationships.

The Category Manager will deliver process innovation that targets demand management and drive the effective utilisation of processes and systems.

The role will also work very closely with Procurement Team members to ensure best practice, savings initiatives and drive innovation.

The position will support their direct line manager, the Senior Manager Business Administration to develop and implement procurement strategies under their assigned categories.

Key Selection Criteria

Excellent category (procurement) and commercial management background with significant experience in the field of property and facilities management or IT, with ability to successfully manage multiple complex contracts;

Experience in applying standard policy and procedure while ensuring the delivery of optimum commercial outcomes;

Excellent stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and negotiate across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and vendors.

Strong analytical skills to be able to analyse data and metrics in a well-planned, methodical and objective manner and determine actions based on data analytics and insights gathered, able to develop opportunity assessments from complex data sources;

Leadership skills in a cross-functional team environment in matrix environment;

Strong commercial acumen with ability to apply knowledge effectively to the Education sector, acknowledging and understanding the nuances.

Proven capability to drive, promote and manage change, with a customer-focused and result-oriented mindset;

Ability to work in a fast paced, lean team environment with the associated flexibility;

Excellent written and communication skills including ability to develop and deliver high level proposal, report, presentations;

Benefits

Highly competitive VND salary (plus allowances) for local candidates or attractive USD salary package (plus benefits) for expatriate candidates depending on proven track record in meeting all the key selection criteria.

Expatriate candidates : Relocation allowance and flights for dependents. School tuition support of up to US$15,000 per child annually, up to 2 children per family;
