Here’s what’s possible for H&M DEPARTMENT MANAGERS :
Department Managers are responsible for a lot of things here at H&M. From typical managerial things such as sales maximization, customer service, and department profitability to coaching teams within a department.
And they’re tasked to do it all according to H&M values, standards, policies, and procedures. H&M culture, really. But most importantly, we ask our Department Managers to develop their teams.
Think of this role as a manager-slash-mentor. Or mentor-slash-manager. Whichever you prefer. Just know that the only way we can become a better company is when we have talented people help unlock what’s possible for everyone around them.
You are responsible for one or more departments (Ladies, Men's, Kids) in your store and report directly to the Store Manager.

1. Selling
You drive sales by implementing Commercial Handbook together with the Visual Merchandiser and ensure great direct and indirect customer service in your department to reach sales targets.
Direct customer service
Ensure that the team meets customer expectations for direct service according to H&M standards
Handle all customer feedback
Indirect customer service
Ensure efficient and effective garment flow, aiming to increase sales
Ensure and optimise the allocation of garments and products based on business needs
Ensure all sales campaigns and activities are run according to H&M standards
Ensure high quality, commercial garment presentation together with Visual team
Drive sales targets
Ensure that the sales budget is kept to
Identify opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and sales
Perform sales follow-up and initiate actions to reach the sales target
Manage stock levels and take key decisions about stock control
2. Team
You support, lead and manage a team to enhance the shopping and working experience in your department. Together with the store management team you ensure that all employee relation responsibilities, legal requirements and H&M policies are fulfilled.
Recruitment, training & development
Execute and follow up on recruitment of your department team
Evaluate and develop all colleagues in your department
Organise, provide and carry out training initiatives for all colleagues in your department team
Execute performance reviews and follow-ups
Communication & legal requirements
Update the whole store team on business performance, new initiatives and other relevant issues
Assess and ensure the professional and personal needs of colleagues in your department are met and initiate action accordingly
3. Profitability
Organise and plan the department according to business needs. Ensure that safety, security and administration procedures are followed by others.
Follow up on Store KPIs and initiate actions to reach store goals and budgets
Plan staff and organise your department according to business needs and budget
