POSITION SUMMARY : The primary focus of this position is to architect, evolve, test and implement hardware and software system level infrastructure, dealing specifically with Fortna Software department's solutions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :
Architecting, implementing, operating, managing, and integrating complex enterprise IT systems and infrastructure both internally and externally having to do with client deliverables.
Defining and maintaining technology and integration models, and the conceptual and logical application and infrastructure patterns and services.
Providing the expertise and guidance to peers, leadership and associates on the overall infrastructure architecture as it relates to the Software department's solution strategies.
Providing technical IT expertise to, and assist in, the selection of new hardware and software platforms which assists in attaining the enterprise architecture principles, policies and standards.
Documenting the infrastructure architecture environment and procedures to ensure our infrastructure remains cost effective, efficient, and of high quality.
Assisting in design and setup of Fortna-client secure remote VPN connections.
Assisting in supporting Fortna’s provided infrastructure to our clients.
Producing high quality project, QA, and infrastructure design documentation.
Taking ownership and following through to completion on individual and department goals as agreed upon with the Software Management.
Remote supporting and troubleshooting for new and legacy WCS systems.
Installing new / rebuilding existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc.
in accordance with standards and project / operational requirements.
Installing and configuring systems such as supports WCS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications.
Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Responsible for administration of 3rd party middleware applications used as part of the WCS solution such as Glassfish Applications Server and Active Message Queue.
Operations and Support
Performing system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
Performing regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Performing regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Creating, changing, and deleting user accounts per request.
Providing Tier III / other support per request from various constituencies
Investigating and troubleshooting issues.
Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures.
Coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies.
Collaborating with other team members to foster a team atmosphere.
Applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities.
Configuring / adding new services as necessary.
Upgrading and configuring system software that supports WCS infrastructure applications per project or operational needs.
Maintaining operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Maintaining data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Writing, revising and verifying process and test procedures.
Developing detailed test, deployment and back-out plans.
