Job summary

As a Supplier Quality Manager, you will work closely with hardware engineers, product managers, contract manufacturers, original device manufacturers (ODMs), and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to get high-quality products built, tested, and released on time.

You will coordinate many fast-changing, moving parts and get them to come together as a product. Additionally, you will contribute excellent communication skills and answer questions about schedules, quality, and progress updates.

You will be responsible for identifying and managing risks, making sound judgments about quality, and stopping (or speeding up) production at the right time.

The QM will also assess supplier performance, conduct regular factory audits, OBA inspection and lead cross functional engineers on the problem solving.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead cross functional teams on quality initiatives, take on ambiguity, build consensus, be an outstanding communicator (both written and verbal), and influence at all levels of the company.
  • Develop and manage hardware development quality plan with engineering teams and communicate quality status to stakeholders.
  • Identify dependencies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute, mitigate risks and issues, and meet system build milestones, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Develop and identify the critical characteristics to product and critical processes to quality, collaborate with suppliers to build error proofing manufacturing and special process / product characteristics control mechanisms.
  • Initiate, explore and track improvement opportunity of product quality issues at suppliers and experienced by customers.
  • Work with supplier on lean production initiatives, continuous improvement projects execution and new technology / material introduction.

    Engineering change management and verify the change implementation.

  • Conduct the manufacturing readiness review when project transition, tooling transition, new line qualification and line idle resuming.

  • 10 years of experience in supplier management, engineering management, developing consumer electronics, or shipping products in consumer electronics or other devices.
  • Experience with managing functional engineering teams and working with component supplier / OEM / ODM partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Chemical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Experienced in Mechanical, SMT and FATP manufacturing processes and reliability test protocols.
  • Hands on experience on advanced quality tools, , PPAP (Production Parts Approve Plan) and failure mode analysis (FMEA).
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time

  • Experienced in mechanicals, PSU (power supply units), battery and packaging manufacturing processes and reliability validation.
  • Six Sigma Green / Black belt, ASQ CQE / M / A certifications are highly desired.
  • Ability to create and innovate quality deliverables / processes during new product development and sustaining program management.
  • Ability to use common data analysis tools (JMP, Minitab and etc.)
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and self-motivated.
