Job Description Summary
Primary Responsibilities :
Sourcing Leader demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.
In this role you will use your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Serve as a subject matter expert on the design and implementation for their assigned area
Will drive and be accountable for operational excellence of assigned programs
Engage the business leadership team to develop sourcing programs / processes and deliver enhanced productivity
Manages budgets and contracts associated with programs and / or initiatives
Support and deliver solutions related to the programs
Drive proactive involvement in all functional activities related to sourcing to ensure that sourcing has upfront involvement in all new programs and delivers strong value to the business
Conduct qualification & competitive analysis of vendor products / services
Understand and drive Six Sigma / LEAN quality internally and with suppliers
Develop, plan, and manage programs to meet GE purchasing commitments in Sourcing
Manage the complete purchasing and contract administration functions for a large sourcing section as required to meet program commitments
Develop sourcing strategy targets on quality, price, delivery, and service necessary to meet requirements
Implement and maintain a quality improvement process targeting reduction in product variation and product losses using key management tools
Collaborate with manager in setting realistic and challenging operational goals, and contribute to their accomplishment
Periodically prepare and implement supporting work plans
Manage Buyer / Contract Administrators in fulfilling purchasing commitments and organize the appropriate program plans
Provide support to GE Marketing and Sales in their proposal efforts
Define and improve Sourcing strategies at business, project, and plant level. May also include management of regional & business teams.
Develops new solutions under guidance and / or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations.
Balance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects.
Works together with high level people from the business at SPB and EB level. Specifies needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done.
Provides technical / commercial assistance to Commodity Buyers to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge.
Actively participate in supplier performance reviews.
Advises Functional managers regarding projects, processes, and procedures in the own field.
Contributes to project as a team member or leads projects.
Support Corporate Audit Staff activities.
Conduct training on sourcing processes and serve as key point of contact on sourcing process inquiries.
Drive sourcing process compliance; Provide input to and deployment support of procedures and guidelines as necessary.
Qualifications Required :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in a Sourcing role).
Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Sourcing Management.
Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills with ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills; strong PC and database management skills.
Strong communication (verbal, written & presentation); skilled in working collaboratively with remote personnel.
Project management & process improvement skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily
Negotiation expertise is preferred
Strong Experience with Oracle ERP, SSP5, SAP PowerMax, Markview, Perception.
Experience leading simplifcation projects.
Gas Power Systems and Power Services 3-6 years with sourcing experience.
