The Communications Manager applies high-level communications and branding expertise to provide a range of specialist advisory services related to the effective delivery of WMP branding and communications materials.
This includes liaising with internal and external stakeholders, developing a range of communication and visibility strategies, providing expert advice, recommendations and reports to support new initiatives and business decision-
making. The position also manages a range of high-quality services including internal and external communications and media, digital communications and works closely with global project sites and agencies to manage WMP brand globally.
The role provides strategic advice to ensure that the brand is positioned globally as a leader in the sector.
The Communications Manager works closely with WMP regional Community Engagement teams to ensure Community Engagement campaigns are effective and that branding and communications are aligned with strategy and meet required timeframes, budgets, objectives, quality measures and communities’ expectations.
Reporting Line : The position reports to the Communications and Engagement Director with a degree of autonomy

Manage the development and implementation of branding, marketing, communications, media and promotions strategies for WMP, ensuring alignment with the direction of the WMP operational plans and annual priorities and other requirements
Manage all aspects of communications of the WMP, leveraging the services, events and expertise provided by strategic marketing and communications, global engagement and external stakeholders
Provide direction to the implementation communications and engagement staff to deliver a high standard of internal and external communications and of stakeholder-
focused service aligned with WMP goals
Develop and implement media and social media strategies to promote WMP as a leading organisation in the sector
Support and develop external communications material for key stakeholders including government and industry partners
Provide high quality market research and analysis, including identification of potential new communications, marketing and engagement opportunities and trends
Manage a range of marketing and communication projects, such as campaigns, online and offline advertising, and presentations, as required to enable the WMP team to achieve strategic targets globally
Guide and encourage inter departmental staff to communicate effectively and achieve the World Mosquito Program objectives.
Key selection criteria
Education / Qualifications
The appointee will have :
postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and / or education / training
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated record of achievement and success in a marketing and communications role, preferably in a not for profit or medical environment
Demonstrated success in acquiring and utilising market intelligence and using effective, contemporary communication channels
Outstanding organising and planning skills, including identifying processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal, prioritising, developing and implementing systems and procedures to guide and track work progress, and recognising barriers and finding effective ways to deal with them
Proven ability to facilitate, develop and sustain relationships across a range of stakeholders and cultures and represent the World Mosquito Program with a high degree of professionalism
Demonstrated ability to effectively influence collaborate and negotiate successful outcomes with a range of stakeholders
Strong commitment to the provision of high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders
Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to develop and deliver high impact presentations to diverse audiences
Other job-related information
The position is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and may require to travel to project sites and regional hubs as required
There may be a requirement to work additional hours from time to time
There may be peak periods of work during which taking of leave may be restricted
The position may be required to be performed from other international regional hubs or other project sites for short- or long-term periods
It is an inherent requirement of the role that the incumbent will be working with, or have risk of exposure to, blood feeding insects.
Unless otherwise agreed by the World Mosquito Program in writing, it is a requirement that at all times during employment in this position the incumbent must maintain up-
to-date vaccinations in accordance with the Australian Government Department of Health National Immunisation Program Schedule.
Evidence of vaccination status must be provided prior to commencement of employment and on request by the World Mosquito Program at any time during employment in this position.
