Purpose

Thefootwear designer works with the footwear product team to ensure that each product is finished with the expected visual aesthetic, high degree of quality, and finishing details.

The designer will be cognizant of the importance of cost / value and will serve as informal leader and coach to junior designer(s) within operation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accurately depict hand-drawn sketches, designs, graphic applications, and ideations as digitally rendered line art, flat patterns, 2D / 3D, technical drawings, and other required art / illustrations
  • Create web-based design boards that depict accurate and complete images of product fabrics, textiles, components, and design
  • Choose and illustrate materials and colors on 2D lineart.
  • Effectively and efficiently navigate and use Reebok software tools and systems
  • Ability to make adjustments to 2d patterns and construction as necessary during product creation process.
  • Ability to execute New Upper / New Bottom product briefs while working closely with factory staff and mold shop team.
  • Ability to work directly with factory team and suppliers on a day to day basis in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong interest and / or experience in Design for manufacturing approach.
  • Select appropriate methods of communications to accurately convey technical information.
  • Create design and concept boards to communicate seasonal direction and design theme application to a product or product line
  • Create supporting artwork that illustrates design concepts and tells stories
  • Create graphics and ability to apply to 2D illustrator files.
  • Gather and apply market research and / or consumer feedback to accurately anticipate and fulfil consumer needs, and identify consumers and trends
  • Ability to asses and make adjustments issues / challenges, and troubleshoot solutions in fast moving environment.
  • Serve as coach and mentor for future junior designers within operation.
  • Travel periodically to key accounts globally and action quick turn design requests in an effort to provide unmatched service level in the industry.
  • This position will have a special focus on working directly with Product Marketing counterpart and local suppliers in Vietnam to explore new innovative yet cost effective materials and processes to create Unique Selling points for the commercially driven channel of distribution.

  • Incorporate seasonal inspiration, fabric / materials / trims, color, and graphics stories in designs that have visual aesthetic as well as relevant product color / graphics themes and placement
  • Select and ensure color, graphics / prints, materials, fit, and trims enhance product aesthetic, works within overall design range, and overall design has market appeal
  • Ensure the product successfully meets the brand aesthetic by adhering to Reebok design DNA fundamentals for both Core Lifestyle and Core Fitness product
  • Financial Aptitude

  • Create / design products that integrate technology, function, and design aesthetic and remain within cost margins.
  • Assess potential cost / margin impact of fabric, color, trim, graphics, treatments, technology, components, and construction choices
  • Resolve cost / margin issues and ensure product / design realization and execution, within budget, against the targeted Go-
  • In-Margin, revenue, quality / pricing, and timelines to meet market requirements

  • Qualifications

  • 4+ years of footwear design experience
  • Advanced level Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop a plus
  • General understanding of materials related to footwear design.
  • Experience in manufacturing setting a plus.
  • Bachelor degree in product, industrial, or automotive design
