The primary objective of the Principal Security Enterprise Architect is to develop and deliver agile, adaptive IT security solutions to protect and secure clients’ assets in order to decrease their costs, improve business flexibility and stability and respond to changing business requirements.
This employee will provide Security enterprise architecture consulting services to clients, analysing client needs and defining holistic strategies and solutions on all aspects of enterprise architectural requirements.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect links the business mission, vision, strategy, value chain and processes of an organization to its IT strategy, and documents this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an integrated, efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect will engage with business and IT leaders and assist them in making investment decisions that balance and prioritise current operational demands, disruptions and opportunities with the longer term strategic vision of the organisation.
They are able to integrate and align the business direction (operations and strategy) and apply enterprise architecture to lead the client’s business forward.
What you'll be doing
Align IT to client business strategy
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect will use their good consulting aptitude and skills to understand the client’s business strategy, business processes, business services, value chain, business roadmap and the context in which the business operates and map these to present and future information system and technology architectures.
Then will use their understanding of the industry and the current state of technology and future industry trends and Dimension Data’s business to recommend solutions that will address the client’s business and systems architecture requirements.

Create roadmap and business case
This employee will build a holistic view of the client’s organization strategy, processes, information and information technology assets.
He / she uses initiative to conduct strategic workshops and engagements to develop an enterprise wide architecture and based on these will recommend assessments to gain insights into the client’s current and future states which will be used as input into the business case.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect will assist clients in assessing their as-is IT service, application and technology estate in defining the target (to-
be) state IT service, application and technology landscape (architecture), and producing the business case and roadmap to optimise and modernise their IT.
This employee will develop business outcome driven roadmaps that are diagnostic and actionable and aligned to the architecture governance process for the enterprise.
Principal Security Enterprise Architects will lead transformation consulting engagements to support the roadmap and business case development for transformational services.
With approval of the business case, the employee will assist the client in architecting next generation platforms including capabilities from a single or multiple Dimension Data business units.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect does not create the technical vision of the enterprise, but has professional relationships with executives of the enterprise to gather and articulate the technical vision and to produce the strategic plan for realizing it.
This plan is always tied to the business plans of the enterprise, and design decisions are traceable to the business plan.
Create useful models
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect will take the requirements as researched with the client and develop well-formulated models of the components of the solution, augmenting the models as necessary to fit all of the circumstances.
They will show multiple views through models to communicate the ideas effectively. The Principal Security Enterprise Architect is responsible for the overall architecture integrity and maintaining the vision of the offering from an architectural perspective.
They will also ensure leverage opportunities are identified, using building blocks, and is a liaison between the functional groups to ensure that the leverage opportunities are realized.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect provides and maintains these models as a framework for understanding the domain(s) of development work, guiding what should be done within the organization, or outside the organization.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect must represent the organization view of the architecture by understanding all the necessary business components.
They verify assumptions and bring in subject matter experts in order to improve the model and to further define it, adding as necessary new ideas to make the result more flexible and more tightly linked to current and expected requirements.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect additionally should assess the value of solution-enhancing developments emanating from field work and incorporate these into the architecture models as appropriate.
Advise on change management strategy
Principal Security Enterprise Architects are able to advise on change management strategies to assist organisations in migrating from current to future architectures.
He / she will formally document the change drivers, reference architecture that guides the change, the current state enterprise architecture, the future state enterprise architecture, the deliverables that describe the change requirements and the roadmaps for implementing these changes through projects.
This employee will focus on getting the client optimised for consumption by identifying the business and IT buyer’s end-
user and organisational adoption priorities to create the necessary solution design, organisational change requirements, and post-
deployment adoption processes. They also have knowledge of project management principles and they ensure that projects with clients are executed accordingly.
He / she will assist clients in realising their business strategy and by helping them to understand the current state of their organisation (as-
is), establish a new strategic vision (to-be), and prioritise a roadmap of architectural change programs designed to help the IT organisation transform.
This employee provides support for organisational transformation projects.
They will continuously monitor the models and update them as necessary to show changes, additions and alterations. These individuals represent architecture and issues during development and decision points of the program.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect is an "agent of change", representing that need for the implementation of the architecture.
Through this development cycle, the Principal Security Enterprise Architect continuously fosters the sharing of customer, architecture, and technical information between organizations.
Act as mentor / coach
He / she will work and engage with other team members and act as advisor and decision maker in solution design situations.
This employee also continuously contributes to the improvement of internal effectiveness by contributing to improving current methodologies, processes and tools.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect will collaborate with and facilitate stakeholder groups by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately exploited.
These employees need to be conceptual thinkers and process minded that can view a requirement in a holistic way. Apart from deep business knowledge Principal Security Enterprise Architects are also required to be proficient in IT Business, Application and Integration architecture, IT governance and operations, technology components and modelling for IT investment.
This individual is very good at preparing and presenting clients with solutions and has the ability to convince and persuade internal and external stakeholders of the right course of action.
The Principal Security Enterprise Architect is a thought leader and possesses deep and visionary industry knowledge in a vertical or industry coupled with an integrated view of the business.
He / she displays sales and services capability, consulting and services execution expertise. These employees have excellent client engagement skills and become trusted advisor to the client using their good interpersonal and communication skills.
