Purpose :

  • Drivethe development process from receipt of tech pack to productiondelivery for assigned products, with an emphasis on quality productengineering and timely completion of all tasks, including samplingand buy ready in accordance with the operatingcalendars.
  • KeyResponsibilities :

  • Collaborateclosely with the various stakeholders - Creation Centres, T1, T2,and various other parties - to drive the development, productionand shipment of product.
  • Manage thefeasibility, completeness and clarity of AD’s by liaising closelywith creation centres. Review the AD’s with T1 in the context ofintended use of product, cost expectations, materials specs,manufacturability, etc.
  • Feedback T1 input to creation centres asappropriate.

  • Lead the development processensuring workable prototypes are created which address desiredfunction, cosmetics, cost, market appeal and manufacturability,including checking for quality, size, fit and adherence tostandards providing options and recommendations to makeimprovements in the sampleprocess.
  • Review, analyze and validate T1costing information throughout the entire creation process. Ensurecompliance to agreed standards.
  • Negotiate with T1 asneeded.

  • Ensure that all developmentsamples, size sets, pre-sell and SMS are produced accurately, andare shipped on time.
  • Workcollaboratively with other LO functions - materials, production,costing and technical services teams etc. to ensure an ontime buy ready / commercializationperformance.
  • Drive for effective problemsolving and continuousimprovement.
  • Ensure timelyresolution of production issues working collaboratively withmaterials, production, costing and technical services teams etc.
  • inorder to reach quality and deliverobjectives.

  • Ensure accurate and timelyupdates of the data management systems whereapplicable.
  • Manage team and activelycoach and develop them to ensure performance excellence anddevelopmentalgrowth.

  • Advanced knowledge ofproduction garment construction andmanufacturing
  • Strong knowledge ofmaterial construction, trims and relatedtesting
  • Ability to fit a garment andcomment to T1 on changes required.
  • Strongknowledge of costing
  • Advanced negotiatingand influencing skills
  • Strongcommunication skills
  • Fluent in English(written and spoken)
  • Advanced ability towork with Product Data Management Systems and basic MS Officeskills
  • RequisiteEducation and Experience / MinimumQualifications :

  • Collegeor university degree
  • 5 years ofrelated work experience in the apparel industry in a technicalcapacity
